GEOINT as the basis for planning operations in Ukraine

In the United States, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA), which collects, analyzes and distributes satellite imagery in support of American national security, is monitoring events in Ukraine and sharing intelligence with partner nations involved in joint missions. The NGA is engaged in supporting these partners with Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) throughout the conflict, as well as sharing commercial imagery and encouraging US companies to help NATO.

The NGA sent personnel to the US European Command (EUCOM) area of ​​operations to train some military partners in the Aerial Reconnaissance Tactical Edge Mapping Imagery System (ARTEMIS), a small unmanned aerial system system (UAS) of the Swedish company Hexagon (also based in Brazil) used to provide high spatial resolution aerial imagery when weather conditions are not ideal for satellite imagery.

It is GEOINT's state-of-the-art in support of military operations, enabling the Ukrainian Armed Forces to create their own Geointelligence system.
